Fireplaces On Sale  RSF

A basic older RSF Fireplace burns Firewood or Coal. Those fuels are harder to ignite, and pollute the air much more than other available fuels.

A typical modern Fireplace uses Natural Gas for fuel.

Natural gas RSF fireplace advantages:

* Clean burn
* Availability in heavily populated areas such as big cities.
* Ease of igniting and controlling the fire.

ONYX 2

I installed an RSF ONYX 2 two months ago and am very disappointed in it. The bitmetallic damper shuts the stove down after 5 or so hours of burning. At this point, you couldn't burn paper in it with the door closed. The RSF company has not returned any of my emails over the last seven days! This is not the stove that I thought it was going to be. The company has a 30 year warranty on this stove...but that doesn't help if they don't return calls or emails. I am presently looking at a dim amout of coals and no wood burning as the damper has shut down the fireplace. Are other people experiencing this? I should have bought a BIS. The only way that I can get back into burning is to let the stove completely cool down. I am not overfiring the stove! I wouldn't recommend this stove to anyone. by John Patterson posted on Wednesday, December 23, 2009

Delta II

I have had the Delta II for four years as our sole heat source in a 2,200 sq feet north facing house on a lake. I installed the central heat option which we only use at -20C or so. Radiant and convection heat works well above -20C. The thermostat system works very well. I also have the internal blower and it did not seem to make much difference in air flow. If you get the central option, you don't need the internal blower. It keeps the house warm to -40C/F, but you need to keep up with the wood (birch). I don't have to get up at night, and still have a good bed of coals in am. The glass view of this fire place is the best I've ever seen. So far the only failure was the wooden cover on the handle cracked. Reglued the two halves and still fine two years later. Electrical wiring issue with old 2006 installation diagram, but new one fixed all that and it works great. I've phoned the company twice re diagrams, but to be fair, I'm not an electrician and they do recommend one to install the central heat package. I eventually figured it out on my own. This is a very high quality product that is working very well in a cold Canadian winter in Northern Ontario. I have recommended it to many who have heard about it and come to see the setup.
